Hi! I’m Catherine Cabrera
Owner & Therapist | inner strength counseling, LLC
Resident in Counseling, MA
I’m passionate about empowering clients who often feel trapped in their own minds and overwhelmed by persistent anxiety rediscover their inner strength and excitement for what life has to offer!
I have a special heart for those living with these challenges because I’ve been in their shoes - I’ve felt trapped by my own thoughts and stuck in an endless cycle. I’m a firm believer that everyone has the inner strength to break their cycle and live the life they strive for.
To do this, I meet my clients where they are. Therapy is a process, and it’s my passion to take the journey with you - one step at a time. To do this, I love bringing creativity, humor, and your personal interests into the therapy space to build on the skills you already have - and yes, you do have them!
I want to help you rediscover your inner strength and support you on your journey. Whether it’s recovering from an eating disorder, navigating challenges in relationships, or managing depression or anxiety - it’s an ongoing process that doesn’t get easier, you get stronger!

my Experience
-
I’m a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia (Resident #0704013775), practicing under the direct supervision of Michael Searby, LPC of Endeavor Counseling Center (LPC #0701005304).
-
I completed my graduate internship working at an eating disorder treatment facility with teens and young adults (~6 months). From there, I began practicing in private practice in 2020 and opened my practice in October 2022.
I work with people across demographics and mental health challenges; however, my specialty is helping people living with anxiety, obsessive thoughts, and people-pleasing tendencies to learn how to work with their anxiety, rather than against it, to accomplish their goals.
-
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Christopher Newport University. During my time at CNU, I began researching the impacts of social media on various mental health challenges, including eating disorders and anxiety.
I then earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University, where I began my clinical experience working with teens and young adults living with eating disorders. I held individual sessions with clients, as well as created and ran multiple therapy groups related to body image, emotion regulation, and helping teens building life skills through the recovery process.

-
My status as a Resident in Counseling means that I am under direct supervision of a fully licensed therapist. There are some limitations as a Resident, including the inability to work directly with insurance companies and all client payments are directed to my supervisor’s practice (Endeavor Counseling Center), as I am not able to receive payments directly - this is noted on all invoices and superbills.
